Local students receive honors at state fair
Katie and Matt Benoit from Lacache Middle School were the champion and reserve champion, respectively, of broilers at the State Fair of Louisiana.
Other local 4-H members who represented Terrebonne Parish 4-H at the state fair were D.J. Olivier, Greg Robichaux, Dillion Allemand and Aston Allemand of Evergreen Junior High School; Bryant Landry of Montegut Middle School; Hunter Triche of Coteau-Bayou Blue Elementary School; and Austin Triche and Amber Triche of Mulberry Elementary School.
Olivier, Robichaux and Allemand were selected for the 4-H livestock educational trip to Louisville, Ky, to represent Terrebonne Parish and Louisiana at the North American International Livestock Exposition.
Bayou Area Livestock Show Results
Local 4-H members who participated in the Bayou Area Livestock Show on Nov. 14 at the Thibodaux Civic Center, were Hunter Triche of Coteau-Bayou Blue; Amber Triche of Mulberry; Austin Triche of Mulberry; Heath Kappel of Evergreen, Dillion Allemand of Evergreen, Deziera Williams of Evergreen and Nicholas Bourgeois of Evergreen.
2010 Parish 4-H Livestock Show and Sale
The Terrebonne Parish 4-H Livestock Show and Sale is scheduled for Feb. 27 at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center, 346 Civic Center Blvd. The event is held in conjunction with the Fear No Evil Bull Riding Challenge. The livestock show is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. The show is free and open to the public.
2009 Regional Rabbit Show Participants and Results
Local 4-H members who participated in the 2009 Regional Rabbit Show on Nov. 23 included Kaitlyn Daigle of Upper Little Caillou Elementary, Lauren Cavalier of LaCache Middle, Teandra Gathen of Caldwell Middle, Lauren Prestenback of Coteau-Bayou Blue, Ty Fanguy of Evergreen, and Tess Fanguy of Coteau-Bayou Blue.
More than 150 rabbits were exhibited.
