Convolutions honored

GRANGER — Highland High School’s Academic Quiz Bowl team, called Convolutions, was honored at a reception May 11 with the promise of a $2,000 check by The Westfield Group (formerly known as Westfield Insurance Co.) for its outstanding accomplishments during the 2005-06 school year.

The “Academic Challenge” TV program in which the team had participated and won with a score of 635 points aired on WEWS News Channel 5 May 13.

This distinction earned the Highland team fourth place among all the current school year’s competing teams.

The team also placed first in the Medina County Academic League.

The team members, under the direction of advisers Barbara Ott and Andrew Dutt, who appeared on “Academic Challenge” were John Connors, Tina Erikson and Greg Griffin.

Alternates were Melissa Erikson, Jonathon Tietz and Alyssa Ryba.

Other Convolutions team members include Elias Bornemann, Anne Druesedow, Kelly Joyce, Sarah Kolberg, Brian Lane and Nick Tietz.
