DaimlerChrysler presents youth awards
SUMMIT COUNTY — DaimlerChrysler Corp. and its Twinsburg Stamping Plant honored 57 Summit County high school seniors as outstanding young citizens April 26 at the Twinsburg Hilton Garden Inn.
Almost 400 people including parents, educators, police and government officials gathered at the event to recognize the students who received Citizenship Youth Awards.
The students received a plaque, an engraved bronze nameplate that will be affixed to Youth Award plaques displayed at participating schools, and a proclamation by U.S. Rep. Steven LaTourette.
The Citizenship Youth Award winners include:
• Archbishop Hoban High School — Amber Beery and Brian Makan;
• Buchtel High School — Janay Whiteside and Carron Curry;
• Copley High School — Tracy Meng and Konstantinos Elefter;
• Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy — Leah Workman and Peter Knotts;
• Firestone High School — Cheryl Lynne Saferstein and Daniel McFarland;
• Norton High School — Rachelle Howe and Matt Stemple;
• Our Lady of the Elms — Allison Murray;
• Revere High School — Priscilla Ju and Evan Moore;
• St. Vincent-St. Mary High School — Christine Glendon and Troy Portis;
• Walsh Jesuit High School — Carly Rockwell and Anthony Louis Dipre; and
• Woodridge High School — Katie Elizabeth Leslein and Christopher Durr.
Also, a $1,000 scholarship from DaimlerChrysler Corp. was presented to both Allison Murray and Carron Curry.
