• COPLEY — The Copley-Fairlawn City Schools Board of Education recognized and honored the district’s February students of the month at the March 21 board meeting:
√ Arrowhead Primary School’s student of the month for February was fourth-grader Stephanie Rich, daughter of Gary and Terri Rich, of Copley. She was nominated by teacher Julie Coffee.
√ Madison Flasco, daughter of Corey and Terri Flasco, of Copley, was Fort Island Primary School’s student of the month. The fourth-grader was nominated by teacher Delma Rosso.
√ Herberich Primary School student of the month was fourth-grader Grace Goldenberg, daughter of Mike and Caron Goldenberg, of Fairlawn. She was nominated by teacher Lisa Headley.
√ Copley-Fairlawn Middle School student of the month was seventh-grader Amanda VanGilder, daughter of Holly and Mark VanGilder, of Fairlawn. She was nominated by a group of middle school teachers.
√ Copley High School student of the month for February was freshman Monique Perrian, daughter of Mary Perrian, of Copley. She was recommended by teacher Stuart Tolle.
• FAIRLAWN — Jennifer Lee, of Fairlawn, was awarded a graduate assistantship in the Performing Arts Center at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa. Lee is the daughter of Keen and Judy Lee.
• ROOTSTOWN — Senior medical students at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) learned March 16 where they will continue their medical training in residency programs following graduation. Fifty-four percent of the 110 students in NEOUCOM’s graduating class will remain in Ohio for their residencies. The following students with local ties participated in the match program:
√ Kristen Dettorre will complete a medical residency in emergency medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn. Dettorre is a graduate of Highland High School and the daughter of Allen and Lisa Dettorre.
√ Jeyavarna Karthikeyan will complete a medical residency in internal medicine at Summa Health System. Karthikeyan is a graduate of Copley High School and the daughter of Jegan and Viji Karthikeyan.
√ Frank Lazzerini will complete a medical residency in family medicine at Akron General Medical Center. Lazzerini is a graduate of Firestone High School and the son of Diane and Dominic Lazzerini.
√ Samir Makati will complete a medical residency in internal medicine at Summa Health System. Makati is a graduate of Firestone High School and the son of Ashok and Malati Makati.
√ Sowmya Murthy will complete a medical residency in internal medicine at Ohio State University Medical Center. Murthy is a graduate of Stow-Munroe Falls High School and the daughter of Keshava and Shylaja Murthy, of Fairlawn.
√ Sujata Ramamurthy will complete a medical residency in internal medicine at Boston University Medical Center. Ramamurthy is a graduate of Copley High School and the daughter of Siva and Gomahi Ramamurthy.
√ Vishnukrupa Reddy will complete a medical residency in emergency medicine at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. Reddy is a graduate of Copley High School and the daughter of Narender and Swarna Reddy.
√ Vanessa Tieu will complete a medical residency in internal medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Tieu is a graduate of Copley High School and the daughter of Hao and Hank Tieu.
√ Matthew Willett will complete a medical residency beginning with a transitional year at Summa Health System and then complete an ophthalmology residency at Summa Health System. Willett is a graduate of Norton High School.
