Miller South team wins POP regional
AKRON — Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts’ eighth-grade team came in first place at the Power of the Pen (POP) Regional Tournament at Kent State University March 4.
The eighth- and seventh-grade teams competed against 28 others from Summit, Portage and Cuyahoga counties.
Seventh-grade student Greg Lenzo was awarded first place among all seventh-graders, and Ellen Rochford received the “Best of the Best Award” from the District competition.
Seventh-graders Lenzo, Drew Lindenberger and Rochford, and eighth-graders Rachel Bailey, Julie Botnick, Kati McGill and Shannon Thanasiu qualified for the state tournament, scheduled for May 26 at The College of Wooster.
