Dana awards scholarships to local students
Nine Washington County high school students have earned Presidential Scholarships to Dana College.
Listed are those students, their parents' names and the amount of their scholarship.
The Presidential Scholarship program is designed to recognize the academic achievements of high school seniors.
More than 140 students spent a day at Dana and participated in an essay competition and personal interviews.
To be eligible for the competition, students had to have a minimum grade point average of 3.25; and minimum ACT ( 25 ) and SAT ( 1130 ) scores.
Blair High School
Todd Maxwell, son of Bruce and Sharleen Maxwell of Blair, $6,000;
Lindsay Johannes, daughter of Douglas and Deborah Johannes of Fort Calhoun, $4,500;
Sara Jensen, daughter of Arnold and Lois Jensen of Blair, $4,000;
Sarah Gibson, daughter of Wanda and Roger Gibson of Blair, $3,000;
Nick Cemer, son of Bill and Prudy Cemer of Blair, $2,000;
Sarah Rasmussen, daughter of Randall and Connie Rasmussen of Blair, $4,000
Central Christian High School
Ryan Marr, son of Ward and Patricia Marr of Fort Calhoun, $8,500;
Fort Calhoun High School
Jeremy Bryan, son of Steven and Leslie Bryan of Fort Calhoun, $3,000; Josh Ohm, son of Linda Ohm of Fort Calhoun, $5,000;
The following students won voice competitions at Dana College recently and were awarded scholarships:
Sarah Rasmussen of Blair High School won a $5,200 Melchoir Memorial Scholarship.
The scholarship is payable over four years.
Twenty - six other students from across the country competed for the scholarship.
Rasmussen is the daughter of Randall and Connie Rasmussen of Blair;
Lindsay Johannes of Blair High School won an $8,000 Melchoir Memorial Voice Scholarship.
She is the daughter of Douglas and Deborah Johannes of Fort Calhoun;
Jeremy Bryan of Fort Calhoun High School won a $10,000 Melchoir Memorial Voice Scholarship.
He is the son of Steven and Leslie Bryan of Fort Calhoun.
