A number of local students have been named to the honor roll and high honor roll at the Holderness School during the school’s first academic quarter. They all also worked in the school’s on-campus student jobs program, and made important contributions in other areas of school life.
Those on the high honor roll had an academic average of better than 90 percent, and those on the honor roll had an academic average of better than 85 percent.
Sophomore Lawson Glidden was named to the high honor roll, and he also played on the boys’ junior varsity soccer team. He is the son of John and Yvonne Glidden of Plymouth.
Another sophomore, Lauren Henchey, made high honors and sang in the chorus. She is the daughter of Christopher Henchey of Loudon and Jean Henchey of Sanbornton.
Senior Heather Keslin made high honors, while her brother Dan, a sophomore, qualified for the honor roll. Heather volunteered as a Blue Key campus tour guide for the Admissions Office, and carried out a course of independent study in the violin.
Dan Keslin also helped with the Blue Key tours, and played on a boys’ varsity soccer team that went 9-5-4 while playing up to a Class A New England prep school schedule. He and Heather are the children of Doug and Tyrelle Keslin of Meredith.
Sophomore Reed Laverack earned honors while volunteering as a Blue Key guide, working on the yearbook staff, performing in a program of one-act plays, and running on a boys’ varsity cross-country team that placed third out of 21 teams at the New England prep school championships. He is the son of Sam and Barb Laverack of Holderness.
Junior Maresa Nielson was named to the high honor roll. She served as a crew leader in the jobs program and won her squad’s Coach’s Award for her inspirational play as forward on the girls’ junior varsity soccer team. She is the daughter of Jeff Nielson and Janice Pedrin-Nielson of Plymouth.
Sophomore Helena Scott qualified for honors while also singing in the chorus and playing on the junior varsity field hockey team. She is the daughter of Ward and Patrice Scott of Plymouth.
Senior Alan Thompson made the high honor roll and was co-captain of a varsity football team that went 8-1, suffering its only defeat in the New England prep school championship game. An injury sustained early in the season kept him on the sidelines, but he will also serve as co-captain of the varsity hockey team and assistant captain of the baseball team. He served as a floor leader in his dormitory. He is the son of Dennis and Laurie Thompson, both of Gilford.
Sophomore Lauren Wright made the high honor roll and played on the junior varsity field hockey team. She is the daughter of Bruce and Nancy Wright of Gilford.
