HHS honors January students
The faculty of Hannibal High School selects a student from each class to recognize as Student of the Month.
The following were selected for the month of January:
James Cornell Behrens is a freshman and the son of Jim and Julie Behrens. He is on the Student Council, band, pep band and secretary/treasurer of the class of 2002. He participates in tennis and golf and is on the 4.0 Honor Roll. He enjoys reading, music and spending time with friends.
Alissa Rose Murphy is a sophomore and the daughter of Steve and Lisa Murphy. She is in Accapella Singers, Lettermen's Club and Conflict Mediation. She participates in softball and basketball and has a 4.0 GPA. She enjoys riding horses, all sports and laughing with friends.
Lindsey Diane Rendlen is a sophomore and the daughter of Sketch and Susie Rendlen. She in on the Student Council, both freshman and sophomore years. Student Council Executive Committee sophomore year, Key Club freshman and sophomore year, SADD sophomore year and Student Assistance Team freshman and sophomore years. She studies ballet, pointe, jazz and tap dancing. She is on the 4.0 Honor Roll, received Hugh O'Brien Leadership Award and will attend a conference in April. She is a member of the First Christian Church in Hannibal and enjoys playing tennis and all watersports, including waverunning.
Melissa Sue Anne Thomas is a junior and daughter of Molly and Jerry Collins of Hannibal and Dennis and Laura Thomas of Bush, La. She in on the Student Council, secretary of Key Club, National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Science Club, Espancais (foreign language club), and Adventure Zone (Christian youth group). She has an All American Scholar Award and is on the Honor Roll. She enjoys talking, eating, going out with friends, making people smile and reading.
Julie Janes is a senior and daughter of Pat and Jill Janes. She is a member of the National Honor Society, HHS Yearbook Staff and Lettermen's Club. She participated on the HHS Lady Pirate Softball team in 9-10-11-12 grades and has participated on the Hannibal Gypsies Softball team for the past nine summers. She is yearbook sports editor, a member of the National Honor Society, NCMC Award in 9-10-11-12 grades and has had the highest GPA Award for softball team member in 9-10-11-12 grades. She enjoys reading, playing softball and spending time with family and friends.
