BERWICK, Maine — Noble High School announces its top honor students for the Class of 2001.

Lindsay Landroche, the daughter of Nancy and Jeff Landroche of Berwick, is the valedictorian of the Class of 2001. Lindsay is co-facilitator of the class and has been a member of the class council for four years. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Peer Helpers of Maine. Lindsay has received the Maine Principal’s Association Award, Top Scholars Award, Summa Cum Laude Award and Maine Scholars Achievement Award. Lindsay played on the Noble soccer team for four years and has been a member of the track and field team. An accomplished vocalist, Lindsay has been a member of the chamber singers and the Southern Maine Chorus. She finds time to volunteer in her church youth group and enjoys hiking, camping, playing the piano and traveling. Lindsay plans to study elementary education and outdoor recreation at the University of Maine in the fall.

Emily Pendergast, salutatorian, is the daughter of Christine and Mark Pendergast of Berwick. Emily has received the Maine Scholars Award, a Summa Cum Laude Award and has been recognized for academic excellence in math, foreign language, history and English. She was named the captain of the soccer, track and field and the gymnastic teams. Emily is co-president of the National Honor Society. Emily has also served on the class council and was a member of the chamber singers. She enjoys music, dancing, hiking and canoeing. Emily will attend Bowdoin College in the fall.

Tiffany Andrews of North Berwick is the daughter of Linda Marx and Andrew Andrews. Tiffany, an AP scholar, has received a Magna Cum Laude Award, the Bouve Health Science Scholarship Award and the Northeastern University Academic Excellence Award. She has been a member of the National Honor Society and has served on the class council. When she is not volunteering at Goodall Hospital, Tiffany likes to dance and travel. She will attend Northeastern University and pursue a degree in physical therapy.

Ashley F. Anstead of Berwick is the daughter of Marcia and Clay Anstead. Ashley has received the International Foreign Language Award, has been a three-year member of All-State Chorus and a four-year member of the Southern Maine Chorus. Ashley has also been a member of the National Honor Society and the gymnastics team. She will major in music at Brigham Young University in Utah in the fall.

Corey Brozeau of Berwick is the son of Denise Brozeau. He has received a varsity letter in football and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was elected secretary of the class council. He will attend Franklin Pierce College in the fall, majoring in communications broadcasting.

Joshua Cantin is the son of Melanie and Roger Cantin of Berwick. Josh has received an Overall Academic Excellence Award, Distinguished History Student Award and Distinguished English Award. Joshua is a member of the National Honor Society and works part time. He will attend the University of Maine in the fall, majoring in secondary education with a concentration in history.

Abbey Coffin is the daughter of Patty and John Coffin of Berwick. An accomplished athlete, Abbey was a national finalist for the Wendy’s Heisman Award. She has been named to the All-Academic Team in soccer, softball and basketball. She was a member of the SMAA All-Star Teams in both basketball and softball. She has served as captain of the soccer, basketball and softball teams. Abbey, a participant of Academic Excel, received a Distinguished Senior Celebration Award. Abbey will study pre-medicine at Boston College in the fall.

Emily Fogg of North Berwick is the daughter of Donna Sweeney and Ray Fogg. She has been recognized as an AP scholar. She has been a tubist in the Southern Maine All-State Festival, a member of the jazz ensemble and participated in the fall musicals and one-act plays. Emily will attend the College of Engineering at the University of Maine in the fall.

Amanda Gerrish is the daughter of Ann and Paul Gerrish of Lebanon. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Amanda will attend the University of New England in the fall, majoring in biochemistry.

Jonathan Haberzettl is the son of Anita and Paul Haberzettl of Berwick. Jonathan has received a Distinguished Scholar Award and was inducted into the National Honor Society. He has participated in Project Search, jazz ensemble, the school play and regional Music Excel. Jonathan will attend the University of Maine in the fall.

Julie Hassain is the daughter of Janet and Charles Hassain of Lebanon and will attend the University of Maine in Portland in the fall.

Evan Michel is the son of Linda and Leo Michel of Berwick. Evan received a Maine Academic Scholar Award, a Rotary Youth Leadership Award and the Noble Award for soccer. Evan has been a member of the Noble soccer team for four years and was named to the SMAA All-Academic Team. He has been a member of the ski club, the class council and was elected co-president of the National Honor Society. Evan will attend Bates College in the fall.

Adam Miller is the son of Marcia and Robert Miller of North Berwick. Adam, an AP scholar with honor, was the Rensselear Medal recipient. He has been a captain of the soccer team and a member of the wrestling and track and field teams. He participated in the band and chorus and was a class council member. Adam will attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.

Melissa Philbrook is the daughter of Barbara and John Philbrook of North Berwick. Melissa was a member of the chamber singers, the National Honor Society and the class council. While at Noble, Melissa participated in the school musicals and was a member of the track and field team. Melissa will study athletic training at the University of New England.

Sarah Roberge is the daughter of Jan and Dan Roberge of Berwick. An avid and competitive equestrian, Sarah is a member of the New England Horsemen Council. She was a member of the class council. Sarah has been accepted into the Honors Program at the University of Maine and will major in preveterinary medicine.

Diane Smith of Lebanon is the daughter of Virginia Lemay and Douglas Smith Sr. Diane attended Dirigo Girls State, participated in Project Search and is a member of the National Honor Society. Diane will attend Roger Williams University to study architecture.

Lindsay Tibbetts is the daughter of Donna and Lennie Tibbetts of Berwick. Lindsay has received a Magna Cum Laude Award and been a representative of the Maine Athletic Summit. She has participated at the varsity level in soccer, basketball and softball. She has been named team captain of soccer, basketball and softball. Lindsay received the Most Valuable Player Award in softball. She will pursue a degree in physical education and coaching at the University of Maine.

Joshua Urrutia is the son of Jane and Victor Urrutia of Lebanon. Josh has been in the National Honor Society, a four-year member of the football team and a three-year manager of the softball team. He was the recipient of the Bradburn Award. Joshua plans to attend Springfield College in the fall.
