HMS students place at state level
Harrisonville Middle School students recently earned second place in the state in a knowledge-based competition.
A team of seventh- and eighth-grade students were second in Missouri in the Knowledge Master competition on April 20. The team was also 73rd out of 820 in the nation.
The Knowledge Master competition is a computer-based test consisting of 200 questions which the students answer as a team. The team has 60 seconds to answer each question. Two thousand points are possible and the Harrisonville team scored 1532.
Question topics include American history, world history, government, recent events, geography, literature, English, math, physical science, biology, earth science, health and psychology, fine arts and trivia.
HMS team members are eighth-graders Julianna Callahan, Jacob Cantrell, Sam Esler, Holly Jones, Aaron Kusmec, Will Osburn, Tess Foss, Amanda Johnson, Andrew Baer and Maks Korolev and seventh graders Chance Alexander, Ethan Eckert, Caleb Grabill, Kyle Jaynes, Dillon Kliewer, Mitchell Perne and Rachel Price.
