COLLEGE HONOR ROLLS
Maple Woods
Several Independence residents have been named to the honor roll for the fall 1998 semester at Maple Woods Community College. To qualify for the honor roll, students must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average and complete six or more credit hours.
Independence students named to the list are: April Granger, Sydney Baker, Diana Carter, James Clark, Ryan Diehl, Daniel Farris, Amy Horning, Karin Kautz, Tony Kehrees, Nancy Levota, Christiane Ley, Amy McDonald, Kathleen Montalte, Jorge Munoz, Shannon O'Brien, Aimee Otts, Jacqueline Reader, John Rice, Bruce Roe, Raquel Sack, Roger Stafford, Shawn Tolliver and Chris Wisecup.
Sugar Creek residents Brandi Bolander and Russell Hoover also were named to the list.
Oklahoma-Norman
Karen Bannister, Independence, was named to the honor roll for the fall 1998 semester at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
Requirements to be named to the honor roll vary at each school. All honor roll students completed at least 12 credit hours.
Vermont Technical
James Long, Independence, received high honors during the fall 1998 semester at Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center, Vt. To earn high honors a student must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average and complete at least 12 credit hours.
Vanderbilt University
James McIntosh and Rachel Roberts, both of Independence, were named to the dean's list for the fall 1998 semester at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.
Both McIntosh and Roberts are in the College of Arts and Science. Students must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average to qualify for the dean's list.
Northwest Missouri
Several Independence residents have been named to either the president's or academic honor roll for the fall 1998 semester at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.
Student's named to the president's honor roll earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average and carried at least 12 academic hours.
Independence students on the president's honor roll are: Amanda Buttler, Antoinette Day, Deborah Grantham, Sean Griffin, Jennifer Pearson, Daniel Scott, Sherri Winingar, and Erica Zuber.
Students named to the academic honor roll earned a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.99 and carried at least 12 academic hours.
Independence students on the academic honor roll are: Chris Bolinger, Aaron Brunson, Tammi Hancock, Christopher Huber, Cara Mustain, Kristina Royster, Genevieve Shockley, Benjamin Sumrall, Danielle Thibault, and Christa Weinand.
Jennifer Lewis, Sibley, was named to the president's honor roll.
Southern California
Sarah Williams, Independence, was named to the dean's list for the spring 1998 semester in the School of Music at the University of Southern California. Williams also received the William Alexander Endowed Music Scholarship.
Southwest Missouri
Several area residents were named to the honor roll for the fall 1998 semester at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield.
Students named to the list earned at least a 3.5 grade point average and completed at least 12 credit hours.
Independence residents named to the list are: Travis Beye, Erica Blevins, John Brown, III, Bryan Buschhorn, Brad Drinkwater, Thomas Featherston, Daniele Fields, Felicia Gilfoy, Katherine Goold, Martin Long, Donald Miller, Melanie Morrison, Jeffrey Sackman, Jill Sackman and Richard Schmidt.
Samantha Gussman, Buckner, also was named to the list.
Missouri Western
Several Independence residents received academic honors for the fall 1998 semester at Missouri Western
State College in St. Joseph, Mo.
Students named to the dean's honor roll earned at least a 3.5 grade point average and carried at least 12 hours for credit.
Independence students named to the list are: John Doney, Elton Rust, Jennifer Sanders, Richard Bigham and Amber Wilson.
Ashley Seger, Independence, was named to the president's honor roll for the fall 1998 semester. She earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average and carried at least 12 credit hours.
