From the summer 2009 graduating class of Lamar State College-Orange, 15 students received honors recognition for their academic achievements.
Three students of Lamar State College-Orange graduated with the designation of summa cum laude, with “highest honors.”
Summa cum laude designation includes those students with grade point averages of 3.8 to 4.0.
They were LSCO employee Phyllis A. Pousson Crow, Orange, Associate of Applied Science (AAS), liberal arts; Johnanna Gail Jones Landry, Sulphur, LA, Certificate, vocational nursing; and Nicole Webb Turpin, Buna, Certificate, vocational nursing.
Magna cum laude, or “high honors” designation, is awarded to graduates who earn GPAs of 3.65 to 3.79.
Three students, Samantha Lynn Ashworth Blevins, Vidor, Certificate, vocational nursing; Janelle R. Gross Long, Orange, Certificate, vocational nursing; and Valerie Alyse Roberts, Orange, Associate of Arts (AA), teaching 1, earned this designation.
Nine students graduated cum laude, or with “honors” designation, with GPAs of 3.50 to 3.64.
They included Amanda K. Musgrove Barlow, Starks, LA, AAS, upward mobility nursing; Baileigh Cecilia Chaloupka, Deweyville, Certificate, vocational nursing; Kristi Michelle Gunn, Orange, Certificate, vocational nursing; Lindsey Michelle Hyatt, Orange, Certificate, dental assisting; Kayte Chapman Jessie, Orange, Certificate, dental assisting; Belva Ann Henson Linscomb, Orange, Certificate, dental assisting; Cynthia Ibanez Rodriguez, Beaumont, AAS, upward mobility nursing; Kayley Michelle Trahan, Orange, Associate of Science (AS), natural science; and Andrew James Vallery, Sulphur, LA, Certificate, vocational nursing.
