Four out of five UIL WO-S participants will participate in the state meet with the fifth attending as an alternate on May 3-5 in Austin.
Thaddeaus Green placed first in Prose, Chelsey Bromley placed third in Literary Criticism, Maria Sciarillo placed first in Headline Writing, Brianna Meadows placed fifth in Feature Writing, and Kaycie Smith placed second in News Writing.
The Journalism team of Sciarillo, Meadows, Smith and Shonnalee Jacobs placed second as a team at Regionals. Sponsors are Ken Wernig, Angela Spence and Meri Elen Jacobs.
Bridge City High School attended the UIL Regional Academic Meet in Brenham at Blinn College on Saturday, April 14 and finished second overall behind Giddings.
Advancing to State will be the General Math team of Nick Robertson, Brett Bertles, Randy Dupuis, and Stephen Dotson who finished first.
Individually Nick was also first.
The Calculator Applications team of Dotson, Bertles, Robertson, and Dupuis was second.
The team won the wild card advancement to state competition by scoring as the highest second place team of any region.
The Computer Science of Robertson, Randy, Dupuis, Mark Placette, and Bertles was second.
Individually, Nick also finished second.
The Number Sense Team of Robertson, Dupuis, Dotson, and Lisa Huynh was second.
Nick was second individually.
Coaches for the math and computer science events are Faye Parish and Phyllis Schulz. The journalism coach is Caroline Hennigan.
The UIL Academic State Meet will be held in Austin at the University of Texas Campus on May 5-7.
Orangefield High School had three students advance to the State UIL Contest in may after placing in the top three at Regionals on Saturday.
Trevor Lancon placed first in Computer Applications, Josh Juneau finished first in Current Events and Issues, and Ryan Holland placed second in LD Debate.
The LCM UIL Science Team placed 2nd at the district competition.
Members include: Lanie Crow, Eric Blem, Ryan Kimbrough, Brittany Waguespack, Megan Waguespack, and Nick Cantu.
Alternates were Kathryn Blackwell and Jacob Newcomer.
Individually, Crow finished second Kimbrough fifth.
Crow was also second in Chemistry and Kimbrough in Biology.
Crow will advance to the Regionals.
