Three West Orange – Stark High School musicians earned gold medals on their superior performances at the University Interscholastic State Solo and Ensemble Contest.
Choir students Nick Cook, Kelsey Dardeau, and Ezra Thomas (center) earned the prestigious awards on their solos during the contest held May 30 at Texas State University in San Marcos.
Thomas also earned an additional “Superior” rating for a snare drum solo of Freytag’s Funky Fat. Cook, Kelsey Dardeau, and Thomas are all High School juniors.
Cook is a four year member of WO-S choirs. Dardeau and Thomas have been in West Orange-Stark choirs for five years.
