TEXAS - Orange - West Orange-Stark High School Journalism Awards - April 6, 2005

The West Orange-Stark High School Journalism team took first place team at the District 24-3A Academic Meet held at West Orange-Stark.

In News Writing, Brianna Meadows placed second and Krista Smith placed third.

In Feature Writing, Wynona Becker placed first.

In Editorials, Wynona Becker placed second and in Headlines, Christine Phares placed second and Brianna Meadows, fifth.

All four will represent WO-S at the UIL Regional Meet on April 23 at Blinn Jr. College in Brenham.

Others who placed are:
Krista Smith 2nd and Steven Payne - 3rd place in Social Studies,
Chelsey Bromley - 2nd place in Literary Criticism,
Cory Broom - 2nd place in Poetry,
Matt Wilmore - 3rd place in Poetry,
Ashley Adkins - 6th place in Poetry,
Catherine McElhinny - 3rd place in Prose,
Thaddeaus Green - 4th place in Prose.

Those who placed first, second or third will compete at the regional level.

Elizabeth Lea - Poetry and Prose,
Penny Franklin and Karen Bellard - Calculator,
Meri Elen Jacobs - Journalism.
