Southern Wells 6th Grade Students Hold Graduation Ceremony
Southern Wells Elementary School hosted the sixth grade graduation ceremony on May 21st at 1:30 p.m. in the elementary gymnasium.
Principal Doug Marshall welcomed a large crowd of friends and family and spoke to students on their accomplishments thus far. Guests enjoyed a song from the Elementary Show Choir group, In-Harmony, and music by the Sixth Grade Band.
Mrs. Deb Coleman, Mr. Bill Cline, and Mr. John Irwin, sixth grade teachers, gave special recognition to the President's Award for Educational Excellence. To be eligible for this award, a student must have an A- grade point average for grades 4 through 6 and score at or above the 85th percentile in reading or math on the ISTEP test.
President's Awards were given to: Alex Kellam, Alicia Flanagan, Brandon Clifton, Brittany Herring, Casey Carroll, Chris Siebold, Erica Eldridge, Jared Jacobs, Jayme Reynolds, Johnny Quinn, Josh Lavanchy, Julia Duncan, Katie Coolman, Laura Paxson, Liza Arnold, Lucas Hamilton, Mychal Chandler, Nat Smith, Ryan Kellam, Shane Estes, Shawn Longenberger, Thad Harter and Tiffany Reusser.
The family of Matthew D. Scott presented the 2002 Citizenship Award to Casey Carroll. Josh Lavanchy and Casey Carroll, sixth grade speakers, recapped memories of the elementary years for the class.
Students, parents and guests were invited to a reception in the elementary cafeteria immediately following the graduation exercises.
